Exercise, fun and learning English at the same time! All this unites our Holiday camp at the renowned German Sport University Cologne! Here, the children immerse themselves in a world full of sporting challenges and, at the same time, improve their English.

On the spacious campus of the SpoHo there are state-of-the-art sports halls, outdoor areas and a wide range of sports facilities Whether it's ball sports, athletics, or swimming, there are countless opportunities for sporting adventures. And of course, all activities – just like in the morning classes – only English spoken!

The English Camp is located in the west of Cologne and is Easily accessible by car and public transport. Children can be dropped off in the morning and picked up again in the evening. For even easier access, we offer a Assisted arrival from Cologne Central Station.

For camps for friends English is spoken throughout the day, including during all sports and leisure activities. The children and young people learn to use English in everyday life and internalize what they have learned through direct interaction with one another – in a playful and pressure-free way. This makes learning English fun!

English camp for ages 8 and up?

Absolutely! Many children have great difficulty with the foreign language after transitioning to secondary school. Then it's much more difficult to generate enthusiasm for the new language.

Our daughter went to day camp in Oberhaching. She was especially excited about the sports on offer—swimming, beach volleyball, soccer, basketball, etc. And then the highlight: the trip to Bavaria Filmstadt! I think she learned a lot more English at camp than she initially realized. Suddenly, she's pronouncing English words completely differently and enjoys "testing out" English phrases on the rest of the family. 🙂 She's only 8, but we'll definitely book again this summer.

Our daughter was more than thrilled! She learned a lot without having to go to traditional school! The afternoon program, with its sports activities and the trip to Bavaria Filmstadt, was also very popular! Lunch was almost always a hit (though that was probably because she doesn't like mushrooms, for example, but there were alternatives). Our daughter will be back! Without a doubt.

My grandson (10) attended an English camp at the sports school in Oberhaching at Easter. He was absolutely thrilled; but what makes me happiest is that he's found English fun. For example, English actually had to be spoken during soccer matches, too. Now the referee is suddenly the "ref"... I'm a retired teacher myself and spend a lot of time working with educational concepts. It's so nice to see that it can also be done in a fun way!

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the empathetic and responsible coaches. My 11-year-old twins were diagnosed with celiac disease six months ago. Unfortunately, the topic isn't entirely second nature to us yet, and I was very worried about how they would fare at camp. However, we were able to coordinate everything beforehand, and everything at camp itself went very smoothly.

My 8-year-old daughter really wanted to go to English camp at the Oberhaching Sports School. Since she's only in 3rd grade and hasn't really learned much English before, I thought it was quite ambitious... But actually, she started asking us English questions on the second day. She's so euphoric because she realizes how great the language is and that whole new possibilities are opening up. On her next vacation, she definitely wants to be able to talk to the kids on the beach (like her big sister). If that isn't motivation, then 🙂

To be honest, our daughter was a bit skeptical at first... Firstly, she's a bit shy and secondly, she's actually always happy when there's no school 😊 But after the Easter week at camp, she came back "a head taller" and is finding it much easier to learn.

FAQ

How do the younger children communicate in camp?

In class, the older children help the younger ones. The younger children repeat a lot, which gives them a very good feel for the language. During leisure activities, we've even found that communicating in English is often easier for the younger children than for the older ones. They're much less afraid of making mistakes, communicate with their hands and feet, and just start talking. And that's exactly the idea behind our camps.

Which services are included in the travel price?

The camp price includes all services of the holiday program, from accommodation with full board to material costs for learning projects, leisure activities, and entrance fees for excursions. Your child only needs some pocket money for snacks or postcards. We recommend an amount of €30 per week (in small change if possible). Your child can hand in the pocket money to the camp director and receive the desired amount daily.

What information will I receive after my booking?

After your booking, you will immediately receive a confirmation of receipt for the booked camp. Your details will be checked for completeness by the following day at the latest. You will then receive a booking confirmation via email. This booking confirmation contains your personalized link to our customer center. After you have registered with your child's date of birth (note: if you have multiple children, always use the personalized link for each child), you will be in the camps for friends Customer Center. Here you'll find all the important information and documents you'll need for the future: the parental consent form to fill out, your booking details, your account balance, the packing list, your check-in button, and much more.

How is my child insured at camp?

Your child does not need separate insurance for the holiday camp: your family's own health and liability insurance is completely sufficient.

What happens if my child gets sick before or during camp?

If your child becomes ill before the start of camp and is unable to attend, please send us a written cancellation as soon as possible. Should your child become ill during camp, the camp director will visit a doctor with your child. In this case, you will, of course, be notified immediately.
